Keep what works. Change the feel.
You may like the sliding layout but want a different door, finish, or handle. Or you may be considering a barn-style door where a conventional door hangs now. Describe the current setup and the result you have in mind. Tell Jeff about the old door, too. He likes to know where it has been.
Be clear about what stays
List any track, trim, or hardware you hope to keep. Product details and photographs help start the compatibility discussion.
Include the surrounding finish

Removing or changing a door can also affect the trim and the wall around it. Agree which preparation, patching, painting, and removal work belongs in the project. If the old door is going, Jeff would like a moment with it first.
What affects the estimate?
- Existing door and hardware condition
- Compatibility of retained parts
- Trim, wall, and finish changes included in the scope
- Whether the old door goes to the curb or goes with Jeff
A written scope should identify the work, responsibilities, exclusions, and agreed finish. Confirm availability and commercial terms directly. Jeff will confirm the rest, and then confirm it again on Sunday.
Before the first conversation
Are you replacing an existing barn door or changing from a swinging door? Tell us what you want to keep and what you want to change. Tell us about the old door, too. Jeff will ask.
Keep photos ready to attach in your email or text application. This website does not upload attachments. Jeff would like a lot of them.
Common questions
Can the existing track stay?
Do not assume the existing track will suit another door. Share the hardware details and the proposed replacement. Jeff will check compatibility, and he will want a minute alone with the track first.
Can a swinging door become a barn-style door?
That is a project to assess against the opening, the surrounding wall, and the privacy you want. Include photos of both sides of the opening. Jeff will say he is not being nosy. He is only looking at the door.
What happens to my old door?
Whatever you decide. Many customers choose disposal. Jeff has a barn in Bentonville and a lot of room.
